Big Men Hit The Ladder

Footwork a Key to Development

Centers and Forwards hit the ladder during a conditioning workout on Friday.

The summer is the time to make yourself a better player. Getting better means not only working on your shooting and ball handling, but most importantly your body. Friday all of the players worked on the ladder to increase foot speed and coordination.
Basketball is off next week, but will be back in the gym on June 22nd.

Schmitt Loses Wisdom

Junior Forward Has Teeth Pulled.

Junior Forward Adam Schmitt was not able to practice on Friday due to having four wisdom teeth pulled. Schmitt was advised by his Dentist not to get his heart rate up since technically wisdom tooth removal is surgery. Schmitt will be back on the court and eating like an animal by Monday. Even with the pain of the surgery, and orders not to play, Schmitt was still at practice Friday supporting his team.

Coach Williams Drops Some Knowledge

NBA Veteran Tells Players “Summer is the Time To Improve Your Game.”

Coach Jerome “JYD” Williams at Summer practice working with the Centers and Forwards.

Having a ten year NBA Veteran, and one of the most popular players ever in the NBA, Jerome “Junkyard Dog” Williams is an advantage Coronado Basketball has over the rest of teams in the city. Not only does Coach Williams bring unlimited knowledge of the game, he raises the intensity level every time he steps on the court. At Wednesday’s Summer Workout, Coach Williams stressed the fact that the Summer is when players should give everything they have to the game. Since there is no school to worry about, hitting the court and conditioning your body should be the most important things to an athlete that really wants to be successful.
“Jerome has done it all when it comes to basketball and our kids know that. Having a coach on the floor that has made it to the highest level of basketball inspires our kids to give their best,” said Coach Kaufman after the workout.

How To Prepare For The Dreaded Finals

1. Plan your study time wisely. It might help to write down a study schedule. Don’t procrastinate, start today!

2. Know what to expect on your exams. Ask your teachers what types of questions will be on the exams. If you are given a study guide, make sure to use it.

3. Prioritize. Study the subjects that you need the most help in. Study what you do not know or understand.

4. If you feel that you need help in a certain area, ask your teacher or friend now. Don’t wait until 30 minutes before you have to take the exam.

5. Make sure you get a good night sleep before the exams.

6. Eat a healthy breakfast before the exams.

7. The day of your exams, make sure you arrive a few minutes early to your class room, stay positive, and relax.
