Car Wash Shifts to be SetFinal Weekend to Pick

For Cheerleaders that have not signed up for a shift for the September 12th Car Wash, this is your final weekend to do so. Shifts are being selected on a first come first serve basis. There are only a few pick em spots left. On Monday, everyone that has not signed up will be assigned a random shift.

The first game of the year can be tough for any team, and it was especially tough for the Coronado Football team as they opened the season with several injuries to key players. The first half the cougars couldn’t get anything going offensively and fell behind the Eldorado Sun Devils. After a couple of key turnovers in the second half, Coronado found themselves trailing 32-6. But sparked by an on side kick recovery, and a furious “crowd rally” from the cheerleaders, the Cougars fought back to get within two touchdowns. The Cheerleaders in-sighted the Coronado fans to stomp and yell, which led to a second on-side kick recovery. Although the Cougars fell short in the first game, the Cheerleaders once again proved why they are the best in the state as they never stopped rooting for their team…

Known for his dramatics on the basketball court, Senior Basketball Co-Captain Adam Schmitt out did himself at Friday’s assembly. It wasn’t blocking a shot or hitting a three that made news, instead, in the middle of the Welcome Back Assembly Schmitt went to half-court, grabbed the microphone and asked Senior Cheer Co-Captain Amy Mettke to go with him to homecoming. And, even sweeter than hitting a game winning shot, Mettke said YES! This is further proof that basketball and cheer are the Coronado Power Couple.

Like any good good Coach, Dawn Starry will celebrate her birthday with her team. Friday afternoon the team performs at their first assembly of the year and Friday night is the first Varsity Football game. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate,” said Coach Starry.
From all of her Cheerleaders and the entire basketball team, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY STARRY!!!”

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 12th. The Cheerleaders are hosting a car wash from 9 am - 2 pm at Oasis Car Wash off of Eastern and Serene.
All proceeds go to benefit the cheer program, and every girl will be asked to sell tickets and be required to sign up to work a shift.
Shift registration is on a first come first serve basis.
Shifts will be:
Shift 1:
8:30am-11:00am
Shift 2:
10:30am - 1:00pm
Shift 3:
11:30am - 2:00pm
To register for a shift, e-mail jkwms702@aol with your full name and shift preference. Shifts will be given on a first come first serve basis. Once a shift is full you will be randomly placed so sign up now!

Donations of used towels will be appreciated.
